dad told me alot of things today. i've heard most of them before, they all go about teaching me how to be successful and stuff. time is my (young people) asset, he says. right now, we may not care much about it, but 5 years down the road, when we see our contemporaries bask in the glory of success and what-not, that's when the comparing starts. we will feel bitter and disappointed that we're not doing as well, earning as much. by then, we're already a little behind in the race... not that people who start late always end up last.
that's why dad says to start young. it does not hurt myself, or cost me anything to be farsighted, to think far, but it's the first step to getting things started. he ended by commenting that he knows it's boring for me whenever he lectures me, but i never found it so. i found it to be enriching, insightful and inspiring, but i never told him so. in fact, i love these talks. i don't know about others, but i feel lucky having my dad share his experience and knowledge with me.
i know my own ambitions, i know what i want in life, but let me be a kid for a few months more. university. that's when i'll pack up my mood (directly translated from chinese!) and start being mature. i hope i won't let him or myself down, like how i've been letting some people down recently.
