as opposed to staring into blank space, idling and pondering over how to entertain myself, whilst feeling too lazy to head out. worse still, the end of my NS liability is -very- near. soon i won't even have anything to do on weekdays. maybe it's time to start the job hunting.

the past few days have been (partly) spent reflecting on my life, what i'm heading towards, and what i can do to change it for the better. i also checked on what my friends are up to.

i have a friend who appears to be doing pretty decently in a multi-level marketing company. he speaks like a person who's secure and successful. by avoiding failure one also avoids success, he says. well, he's certainly richer than i am.

i have another friend who's been dabbling in stocks. he speaks like a man en route to riches, 'financial stability'. "i'm busy" he often remarks. guess what? me too - busy watching TV, busy dreaming, busy slacking.

and another one, who's heading off to harvard this year, on a full scholarship. i look up to him, yet he says it's not the big deal i'm making it out to be. it is, i insisted, but he is a humble man. who knows? he may receive a Nobel prize in future. certainly he has the drive, and calibre.

and there's the friend who sells clothes online. she shops like a fiend and does not take any money from her parents. she is a full-time student, too. that speaks for something already, doesn't it.

finally there's jeremy. he speaks like the millionaire he isn't. he is often found in front of the computer or tv, doing nothing productive. sometimes he discusses business plans, the type that may never be. yet he aspires to be somebody great (rich, actually). laughable, isn't it?!

03.january.2007 - happy 21st, weetheng.

21. twenty-one. 二十一。

no matter how i look at it, it's as good a number as any other. yet to many, it holds a special significance when represented as an age. perhaps because it signifies the coming of age. or perhaps it's a good excuse to hold a party where one may invite friends from different cliques, creating opportunites for them to meld. i wonder which way the scale will sway when you put the two on opposite end.

not that parties are bad. i got to put faces to a few names i've only been hearing before that day, so maybe i'll appear only half as lost when the RV freaks start talking about RV things again. and, i got to see faces i haven't seen in a while, it was good catching up. and, i got to dress up. and, it's always better being out with friends than rotting at home!

that all said, there will be no party for my 21st. just not my type to hold one. guess i've always been more of the reserved, and quiet kind of guy.

the 2nd day of the new year was definitely interesting.

we started off as 2, bumped into 5, and another joined to total 8. oh, i was talking the number of people, and what resulted was an 'inpromptu' class gathering! well, not exactly a class gathering in fashion, for whilst we desserted at the same place, we were in 2 separate small tables that require effort (sufficient to deter) to combine. it is rather disheartening to find that we have not as much to talk about as we used to back in school, but life only proceeds forward and never backward, there is regrettably no time for regrets.

it's amazing how those 3 words can be the catalyst to sparking off healthy conversations with friends i haven't spoken to in more than half a year. i could get addicted to changing nicks.

let's wave our hands, scream our lungs out and dance wildly to herald 2007, a new year where hopefully everything will have a fresh beginning!
