'fresh from the shower' was a common expression but minutes after his shower, the feverous bugs had feverish jeremy wrapping layers of blankets around himself, trickling with sweat that stole warmth from his body.
the surroundings was an unfamiliar sight. white pillows, white bedsheets, white blankets. an emergency call button. the bed barricaded with steel(?) bars. the needle in jeremy's under-arm. even the pyjamas was an unfamiliar blue. no matter, he was oblivious to these unfamiliarity. mayhaps not oblivious, just unconcerned. his concerns lie elsewhere. the rapid swirl of the ceiling fan -
will it slow if i just thought hard enough. the tick and tock of the clock -
i could've sworn it used to go much faster. that jacket on the chair -
levitate! to me!but no, the fan wasn't slowing, the clock wasn't going faster, the jacket wasn't moving. resigned to his miserable state, jeremy sought the next best alternative, to drift off to sleep. yet that too was not meant to be. as he switched off his mind and eyes, something else switched on. Light
. oh, i'm there already? jeremy was hopeful, but that fleeting thought vanished as abruptly as it appeared. with a silent sigh, he willed his eyes open.
to be continued... (i'm lazy, this will probably take forever to finish wahaha)

in the not-too-distant past, i saw an advertisement on the bus that went something like...
when was the last time you did something for the first time.and my answer to that... just yesterday! for the first time, i spent the night in a hospital AND had a (very minor) operation. how exciting, huh! when my fever got as high as 39.5 degree celsius, there was no reason not to look for the doctor anymore. so off i went to Alexandra Hospital A&E Clinic, hoping to obtain some miracle drug to ease the suffering. if only things were that simple. the doctor decided that the lump on my back, which appeared approximately the same time my fever did, had to be removed surgically, so i was warded alongside many elderlies. i didn't see anyone who wasn't at least twice my age.
for general anaesthetic, you have to fast for 6 hours. so we can only do the operation for you around 4 - 7am, Dr Lee (it's a he) said. alright, so i laid down to sleep for a couple of hours before the first operation of my life. a few moments later, i had a rude awakening by a certain Dr Poon.
are you afraid of pain? 'cause if we use local anaesthetic, we can do the operation asap. it'll just be painful when you take the anaesthetic jabs.in front of a pretty doctor, i couldn't bring myself to 'yes, i'm afraid of pain', so i said 'nah, i'm quite alright with pain'. but damn did those 2 jabs hurt, like hell.
to be continued... on a later date. i'm off to do something. :P

i'm not sure how many people does it, but i keep in a box objects of fond memories. while i was tidying up my place earlier, i realized that the box can no longer take any more things in it. then i wondered, why am i keeping these things? how many more of these can i keep? and how long more will i be able to keep them, before they have to make space for something else?
maybe it'd be easier to toss everything away!

Sea Asia 2007... so it has ended. in the earlier post, i failed to mention that besides being paid to booze, gorge, socialize, there was also free photo-taking and developing!
friend and me (taken on day II)
colleagues! (taken on day III)
isn't this just like the life of a celebrity? but alas, all good things must come to an end. the conclusion of the event marks the end of my purpose in the company. simply put, my job is done and over.
the job that started 27th feb and ended today, 5th april. it has been a memorable albeit short period of my life, one that's unlikely to be fading from memory anytime soon. maybe it's me being emotional, but i find that i've grown attached and used to the job and company. and knowing that next monday i won't have to pull myself out of bed at 7+, lug myself to the mrt station, squeeze with the morning train crowd to get to work... it just feels weird. like my life is getting out of sync with reality.
actually, till date, i still hold lucid remembrance of the days i worked at woodgrove primary. of the little young'in who tugged at my shirt at the canteen just to greet me. of me bullying the kids at basketball. of the time we (namely joyce, shuiling, dennis and i) went to uncle ringo funfair. of the battle against mdm aminah. of fighting the z monster when i'm supposed to be helping to supervise a class. of joyce snipping off her earphones at the science lab. of us (all five of us) getting called the 'hottest teachers' in school :P and many many more!
likewise, i won't easily forget the experiences i've had at singapore maritime foundation. dashing across the x-junction in heavy rain to get to lau pasat. screwing up the paper shredder, totally. writing cheques in the hundreds of thousands (not that i sign them!). earthquake. and of course, sea asia.
when i had to leave the school then, that's exactly how i feel now. sentimental? perhaps. i don't know. but i do know that it'll pass, like it did, then. and life goes on.
i just thought to blog, since emotions are/were running high.

sea asia 2007 - day II
Tuesday, April 03, 2007, 9:10 PM
well, work has really been interesting this week. i wouldn't mind doing this for many months more, pity that's not going to happen. carpe diem. enjoy while it lasts.
day II of Sea Asia 2007.
i was at the 2nd storey (just a platform actually) of my booth, and decided to snap some photos
2nd storey is actually the reception area! :D and no, i wasn't trying to take photo of the lady, she just happened to be there!

just another angle
me, at my corner taking stealth shots with my phone
my friend, pissed drunk from tiger! well not really, but what the heck!
and on the way home, i found out that a fellow exhibitor (from the booth-next-door) actually stays a few flats next to me. to think that i didn't find her familiar at all when i first met her, hah.

you know it's life when you're paid to booze, snack, and essentially bum around. and life, is today.
5 magnificent kegs of tiger beer, all chilled up, greeted me as i arrived at the exhibition booth. i walked up the steps (dual-storey!), lo and behold, pastries laid out on the table! not to mention the sweet looking lady tending to this reception area. what more is there to say?
